Black Phoebe Project – a collaborative performance and site-specific installation

We are an Art-Architecture firm looking for individual performers or ensembles of all disciplines to collaborate with us on an outdoor installation and performance piece. There would be up to 12 funded performances over the course of 1 year in the Presidio of San Francisco. Collaboration would be with our architectural design team to develop a stage set based on “habitat” and performance piece inspired by the Black Phoebe bird. The underlying concept is to illustrate the fundamentals of ecology—the basic relationship of a living organism to its material environment. The degree to which the actual traits of the native Californian bird are used as a point of reference for the character development and performance will be at the discretion of the performer/ensemble.

Auditions will be held Friday May 29th in San Francisco – location and time slot will be emailed if you are called in to audition. At the audition, we ask that you come prepared with a 3-5 minute performance - a piece related to the concepts of the project or beginning to explore the Black Phoebe is highly encouraged! The audition will be filmed.
